URKU is seeking an experienced Café Manager to lead our Prahran chocolate house and café. This role is for a hospitality professional who thrives in premium environments, leads with calm confidence, and understands that luxury is built through consistency, care, and exceptional attention to detail.

The Role
As Café Manager, you will take ownership of service excellence and daily operations, leading a team to deliver a polished, welcoming, and consistently high-quality experience.
You will be hands-on and operationally capable, with a strong instinct for presentation, hospitality flow, and team performance. You will also bring the URKU story to life—helping customers connect to the origins, flavour notes, and craft behind everything we serve.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a high-performing team, setting service standards with confidence and clarity
- Oversee day-to-day café operations including opening/closing, workflow, cleanliness, and stock control
- Maintain premium customer experiences through refined hospitality, calm service, and consistency
- Create memorable, bespoke customer moments through storytelling and product knowledge
- Train staff across coffee service, cacao knowledge, and URKU presentation standards
- Professional-level coffee and barista experience is required to effectively deliver training and maintain service excellence
- Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and operational procedures
- Hold Food Safety Supervisor certification to ensure compliance with food safety requirements
- Food Safety Supervisor certification can be obtained after hire if not already held
- Champion a workplace culture that is professional, supportive, and committed to excellence
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years' experience in café / hospitality management (preferred)
- Strong leadership presence—calm, accountable, and people-focused
- Exceptional attention to detail and pride in presentation, systems, and service execution
- Confident operational ability: stock, workflow, quality control, and compliance
- Passion for flavour and hospitality, with interest in coffee and cacao (or a strong desire to learn)
- Ability to perform in a luxury hospitality environment where standards matter
- Flexible availability including weekends and peak trade
